After that he performed a severe penance for Paramashi Vudi seeking release from the guilt of committing matricide. As part of this, he prayed to Lord Shiva that he would worship 32 Shiva lingams in different places of the country and grant him absolution. According to Annamata, Bharata traveled all over the continent and built 31 Shiva temples in different places. Finally he visited Ellamma in Dilavarpur and erected the 32nd Shivalinga in the valleys north of Ammavari temple. Appreciated by Parashuram's devotion, Parameshwara appeared and freed him from matricide. It is said that Parasura performed Shivatandavam saying 'Shiva is moving', happy that his sin was gone.
Sthalapurana says. Since then this temple is known as the moving sin temple. In course of time it moved and became famous as Papahareshva Palace. Behind the Swami, Goddess Parvati is being worshipped.
